Jeannette Byrne is touring her new album of classic French songs entitled Café Diva. Byrne, the original chanteuse with Jack L and the Black Romantics, concentrates on keeping things distinctively French with the follow up to her hugely successful 1998 début Elegy. Café Diva celebrates the best of French music from the past 40 years - five Edith Piaf recordings including her epitaph to the world “Non, Je ne regrette rien”, Brel's “Ne me quitte pas”, and the much loved Aznavour recording, “Tous les visages de l'amour”. The passion and longing of Byrne's voice is perfectly pitched in delivering this collection of classic French songs. Brel, Piaf and Aznavour are given life once again as Byrne captures the atmospheric tingling of songs which have aged beautifully yet remain timeless.
