Serge Gainsbourg
Melody Nelson
By Jean-Christophe Averty

Friday 19 June
Denzille Cinema - 9.30pm

Melody Nelson is the visual adaptation of the legendary concept album Histoire de Melody Nelson, by French musician Serge Gainsbourg.

Released in 1971 the album failed to convince both critics and public but became since the most revered and influential French album ever made. Hardcore  fans of Melody Nelson include, among others, Portishead, Beck, Sonic Youth, Air or Jarvis Cocker. The album was re-released on Cd in the USA earlier this year to a huge critical acclaim.

Jean-Christophe Averty's musical film, featuring both Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, reflects the crazyness of this eccentric video maker, between pop art and psychedelia. This is a very rare document not to be missed by music fans!
